Kosher
Kosher food is prepared in accordance with strict rules for the Jewish population. The requirements involve avoidance of cross contamination including food handling equipment and the methods of preparation in addition to the ingredients used.
It is important not to label foods as Kosher unless you have a good understanding of what will be expected by diners. Simply using Kosher ingredients does not make a dish Kosher.
For eg: you cannot serve dairy and meat in the same meal.
We recommend getting in touch with the Auckland Hebrew Congregation if you are interested in offering Kosher meals. They can guide you through the rules and whether you need to apply for certification.
